Appleby had upbeat reports of the rapidly improving Bow Creek, who holds a major chance in the Bet365 Mile, and also Pallister, who lines up in the Bet365 Handicap.
He took over both horses from Mark Johnston at the end of last season. Bow Creek had already climbed through the ranks to register big wins in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood and Boomerang Mile at Leopardstown, and more is expected from him.
"Bow Creek wintered very well here, and like any horse going to a new yard, we find that we are learning more about him every day," Appleby pointed out.
"The ground and the trip will suit, and I have been pleased with his preparation coming into this race. But I will say that whatever he does, he will come on again.
"Looking further ahead, he has some nice entries, such as the Lockinge and the Queen Anne, but this run will tell us a lot. He is well, has worked pleasingly, and I am upbeat about his chance," the trainer added.
Appleby significantly stressed that at home Pallister was "going a stride faster" than many others in the yard. His experience against top notch company in races such as the Vintage Stakes as a juvenile had been a good grounding for his handicap tasks.
"For a new horse, I have found it easier to get a hand on him than many others that have come to us. I am very pleased with him," Appleby added.
