Won a Newmarket (July) maiden as a 2yo then didn't race until the autumn of his 3yo career, when readily taking a competitive Newmarket (Rowley Mile) handicap off 90; returned with a runaway success in the Thirsk Hunt Cup off 100, and subsequently ran well in defeat in a number of Group 1s, namely the Prince Of Wales's Stakes, Eclipse, Sussex Stakes, Juddmonte International and Prix du Moulin; began 2013 with a career-best win in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes in May and, having spent the next five months on the sidelines through injury, returned to top that effort with a thrilling victory in the Group 1 Champion Stakes at Ascot in what was to be his final race; was effective at 1m-1m2f
