Fifth foal; brother to US 6f-7.5f winner Macaroon, half-brother to 1m1f winner With Sugar On Top; dam US 8.5f Grade 2 winner, half-sister to Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Midshipman, out of US 8.5f/1m1f Grade 2 winner; won Aqueduct maiden in October 2014 on third start and just touched off in Grade 2 Remsen Stakes at the same track next time; returned in 2015 with second in the Grade 2 Holy Bull at Gulfstream Park in January; disappointing in the Grade 2 Fountain Of Youth at the same venue next time, but then had minor throat surgery, was fitted with blinkers and switched to hold-up ride for the Grade 1 Wood Memorial back at Aqueduct and came good; staying-on fourth in Grade 1 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs next time, before 5l second to American Pharoah in the Grade 1 Belmont Stakes; runner-up in the Grade 2 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga before another good effort when third in the Travers Stakes at the same track; won the Grade 2 Pennsylvania Derby at Parx in Sepmteber; didn't give true running when down the field in the Breeders' Cup Classic at the end of a long campaign; good as ever when winning Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge R2 at Meydan on 2016 return in February, but then only fifth in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup; returned to the US with a 14l success in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap over 1m at Belmont Park in June and followed up with a powerful front-running success in the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes over 1m1f at Saratoga in August, but just lost out when third in a bunch finish to the Woodward Stakes over the same C&D the following month; sixth in the Breeders' Cup Classic; effective at 1m-1m4f; acts on dirt; usually wears blinkers.
