Mezzo Soprano (USA)

Mezzo Soprano was bred to be top class as a sister to highly successful stallion Rahy and a half-sister to Moon Ballad's sire Singspiel; she hailed from one of the best North American pedigrees and her performance on the track matched her fine breeding with a victory in the 2003 Group 1 Prix Vermeille, beating Yesterday in a hard fought finish; the race featured seven Group winners, among them two Classic winners and the time was significantly faster than that recorded by the colts in the preceding Prix Niel; her last race was in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and she was retired to the paddocks as a valuable edition to Sheikh Mohammed's broodmare operation
