Rewilding started off his career with Andre Fabre, but was switched to Godolphin after finishing second to Planteur in the Group 2 Prix Noailles at Longchamp on his 3yo reappearance; he soon made his mark with a convincing success in a Goodwood Listed event, and justified the decision to supplement him for the 2010 Derby by finishing a fine third of the 12 runners behind Workforce (his only start on fast ground); given a short break afterwards, he returned with a stunning success in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York and on the strength of that was sent off favourite for the St Leger, but he probably found the race came too soon and was below his best; having been rested afterwards, he returned with a decisive success in the Group 1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan the following March, but then put up probably his best ever performance when getting up to beat the ten-time Group 1 winner So You Think in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot; he was tragically fatally injured in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes back at Ascot the following month; he was effective at up to 1m4f and was at his best on good and softer ground
