Abduction drops back down to seven furlongs for the Group Two Surround Stakes at Warwick Farm, Australia, on Saturday, February 28.

The three-year-old filly, who is trained by John O'Shea, ran on strongly for a neck victory on her only previous appearance over the distance in the Listed Bacardi Reginald Allen Quality at Rosehill Gardens in September.

She subsequently made three appearances over further and was headed near the line to finish second, beaten three-quarters of a length, in the 10-furlong Group One Wakeful Stakes at Flemington on November 1.

On her latest start, the daughter of Street Cry kept on well to take fifth in the Group One Crown Oaks over 12 and a half furlongs, also at Flemington, on November 6.

John O'Shea said: "Abduction has been in scintillating form at home and has had two barrier trials, thereby presenting into this race in very good order.

"Unfortunately she has drawn barrier 11 in a race that seems to be devoid of speed. She will be ridden conservatively from the gate and be allowed to brush home but I think the gate will create too much of a problem for her to be in the finish.

"As long as she finishes the race off nicely, I will be more than happy."

Abduction, with James McDonald up, faces 11 other three-year-old fillies including Group One Coolmore Flight Stakes winner First Seal, Group Two scorers Adrift and Winx, and Group One Inglis Sires' heroine Peggy Jean.
