The two-year-old colt, trained by John Gosden and ridden by James Doyle, broke smartly and soon raced behind the leaders of the 10-strong field.
He drifted around under pressure over a furlong from home before keeping on to take third in the closing stages.
Recorder won in 1m 24.20s on good to soft ground, beating Bing Bang Bong by a length and a quarter with a further three lengths back to Cymric.
