Al Qahwa took the lead over two furlongs out but was soon headed and kept on at one pace in the final furlong, beaten one and three quarter lengths and two and three quarter lengths respectively by the winner Smash Williams and second Rockaway Valley. The winning time was 1m 14.54s on yielding to soft going.

Michael Halford said: "I was happy with Al Qahwa's performance - he ran a good solid race, was beaten by two smart horses and handled the ground."
