Anamba finished a close runner-up in the Group Three C L & M F Weld Park Stakes over seven furlongs at the Curragh, Ireland, on Sunday, September 27.

Having her second career start, the two-year-old Shamardal filly was prominent throughout under William Buick. Anamba raced in third on the far rail and was switched out with a quarter-mile remaining.

She came through to challenge the leader and kept on strongly inside the final furlong but could not contain the late flourish of Coolmore whom she had beaten a head on debut over the same distance at Leopardstown on September 12. The winning margin this time was a half-length, with Coolmore's time being 1m 27.12s on good to yielding ground.

Michael Halford commented: "I was very pleased with Anamba's performance.

"She travelled smashingly through the race and quickened up well. William felt a faster surface would enable Anamba to show her turn of foot better than this slow ground.

"That will be it for her this season and she will be considered as a Guineas's candidate next year."
