Superstar colt Anamoe made the perfect start to a potentially huge four-year-old campaign with a brilliant display in Saturday’s G1 Winx Stakes at Royal Randwick.

Having already enjoyed top-level success in the Sires’ Produce Stakes, Caulfield Guineas and Rosehill Guineas, the son of Street Boss emulated Thunder Snow and Aljabr in winning G1 races at two, three and four.

Anamoe went down by a short-head to State Of Rest in last year’s Cox Plate and will be looking to avenge that defeat in the Moonee Valley highlight next month, with a trip to Europe in 2023 a long-term possibility.

More immediately, Anamoe will aim for glory at the Australian Racehorse of the Year Awards on Saturday, 3 September, having been nominated in the Champion 3YO Colt/Gelding and Champion Middle Distance categories.

Zapateo ensured a Graded-race double at Royal Randwick on Saturday as the half-sister to Osborne Bulls continued her upward curve with a scintillating victory in the G3 Toy Show Quality.

In the UK, Trawlerman provided Godolphin with a third victory in the Ebor Handicap, the eponymous highlight of York’s Ebor Festival. Previous winners All The Good and Willing Foe went on to acquit themselves well in Australia and Trawlerman could also head Down Under, with his win making him eligible for a late Melbourne Cup nomination.

Noble Style produced the two-year-old performance of the week at York when scoring impressively in the G2 Gimcrack Stakes, earning the unbeaten colt a crack at some of the top end-of-season G1 races.

Similar targets await Silver Knott, who stormed to glory in the G3 Solario Stakes at Sandown Park, and Salisbury Listed winner Flying Honours.

Cascadian ended last season by taking the All Aged Stakes and the evergreen eight-year-old looks set to bid for back-to-back G1 victories in the Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.

Progressive colt Cody’s Wish makes his G1 debut in the Forego Stakes at Saratoga on the same day, with Carter Handicap scorer Speaker’s Corner heading out to Del Mar for the G2 Pat O’Brien Stakes.
