Three-year-old filly Antelucan bids for a second Group Three victory in the Gallagher Bassett/TBV Champagne Stakes over six furlongs at Moonee Valley, Australia, on Friday evening, September 25.
Antelucan, trained by John O'Shea, is having her first start of the season after coming home third in the Group Three Seppelt Black Opal Stakes over the same distance at Canberra on March 8.
She trailed home last in the extended five-furlong Group Two Sportingbet Powered By William Hill Blue Diamond Prelude (Fillies) at Caulfield in February but made an impressive debut with a swooping victory in the Group Three Emirates Airline Plate over five furlongs at Flemington in November.
John O'Shea reported: "Antelucan has drawn a pretty ordinary gate in 11 so we will ride her conservatively and give her the opportunity to hit the line.
"She has arrived in Melbourne in wonderful order and stretched her legs at the Valley on Tuesday morning - we are very happy with her.
"She has trialled particularly well every time she has been to the trials this prep and will be more than capable of fighting out the finish here but she will need things to go her way from such a wide gate."
Antelucan, partnered by Dwayne Dunn for the first time, is set to meet nine other three-year-old fillies including recent Sandown winner Secret Agenda, easy Morphettville scorer Viddora and Group One Blue Diamond Stakes second Reemah.
