Avilius back at Maisons-Laffitte for Prix Eugene Adam

Progressive three-year-old colt Avilius steps up to G2 level in the Prix Eugene Adam over a mile and a quarter at Maisons-Laffitte, France, on Sunday, July 16.
 
The Andre Fabre-trained son of Pivotal has won on two of his three starts, most recently when gaining a cosy short-neck verdict in the Listed Prix de Suresnes, run over the same course and distance as the Prix Eugene Adam on April 25.
 
He also won an extended mile maiden readily on Polytrack at Chantilly on April 9 and came home fourth after being hampered on his debut in another Polytrack maiden over a mile at the same course on March 10.
 
Mickael Barzalona, on board for all three appearances, takes the ride again on Avilius, who faces seven others headed by unbeaten Listed winner Afandem and G3 Prix de Guiche scorer Phelps Win.

“He only just does enough at home, so it is hard to gauge his ability, but he is ready to run up to his best.
