Roger Varian commented: "I was a bit worried two furlongs out because Belardo was boxed in but, as soon as the field started to split, he always looked like winning.
"His work at home has been excellent. I didn't let him off too much over the winter - he ran so well behind Solow in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot and we have to carry that momentum forward.
"We targeted this race a long while a go to get his season started and I am delighted to have a winner in these colours.
"We will see how Belardo comes out of this race and I will speak with connections but I would love to run him in the G2 bet365 Mile at Sandown (April 22)."
