Malice is out to bounce back to form in the Group Three Strathayr Cameron Handicap over seven and a half furlongs at Newcastle, Australia, on Friday, September 18.
The John O'Shea-trained five-year-old trailed home last on his seasonal return in the Group Two Tramway Stakes over half a furlong shorter on September 5.
He was seventh in Listed races at Scone and Roshehill Gardens in May and finished runner-up, beaten a head, in the Group Three Hyland Race Colours Doncaster Prelude over seven and a half furlongs at Rosehill Gardens in March.
The son of Teofilo twice scored over longer trips in November, including when getting up on the line to take the 10-furlong Listed ATC Cup, also at Rosehill Gardens.
John O'Shea commented: "Although Malice's first-up run was on a heavy track, he was still a bit disappointing.
"His work has been nice and this is a lovely graded race for him. He gets back on top of the ground so we are looking for a much improved performance from him."
Malice, who is ridden by Sam Clipperton and has joint bottom-weight of 8st 5lb (54 kilos), takes on 12 rivals including Tramway Stakes first and second, Hooked and Ecuador, plus Doomben Group Three scorer Sadler's Lake.
