Cavil out to take Holy Bull by the horns

Cavil challenges last year’s American champion juvenile Classic Empire in the G2 Lambholm South Holy Bull Stakes (17.35hrs local time) over an extended mile on dirt at Gulfstream Park, USA, on Saturday, February 4.
The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained three-year-old made all for a convincing win in a mile maiden at Aqueduct on December 2, but faded to finish sixth on his latest outing in the non-graded Mucho Macho Man Stakes over the same trip at Gulfstream Park on January 7.
Jose Lezcano comes in for his first ride on the son of Elusive Quality, who breaks from stall eight among the nine runners.
Kiaran McLaughlin said: “Cavil won his maiden impressively and had a rough trip in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes.
“We want to see if he belongs with this calibre of horse and we think he is going to run a much better race compared to his last start.
“He has been training well and this could be a good time to take on Classic Empire."
