Cinderella’s Dream flew home after finding room to take second in the G1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, with Beautiful Love running an excellent race to take fourth in the Del Mar contest on Saturday, 2 November.

Looking to add to her wins in the G1 Belmont Oaks and G2 Saratoga Oaks, Cinderella’s Dream broke on terms and soon raced in fifth on the inside, two places behind Beautiful Love, who also hugged the rail.

Moira made a significant move around the field halfway down the back straight, shuffling the Charlie Appleby-trained fillies back slightly, and Cinderella’s Dream found herself behind a wall of horses in eighth rounding the far turn.

Oisin Murphy attempted to kick on Beautiful Love at the top of the lane, with his mount responding well to press Full Count Felicia and Didia for second as Moira hit the front approaching the final furlong.

Cinderella’s Dream had to wait to deliver her challenge but flashed home under William Buick, quickening between Beautiful Love and Full Count Felicia before grabbing second from Didia in the final strides.

Having got first run, Moira had enough in reserve to see off Cinderella’s Dream and prevail by half a length. Didia took third, a nose further back, with another half-length back to a rallying Beautiful Love.

Charlie Appleby said: “Cinderella’s Dream looked a touch unlucky not to win and Will had to sit and suffer until she could eventually get going. They didn’t seem to go much of a pace but she’s very talented and there will be another day with her.”

William Buick said: “I had a good trip, but Cinderella’s Dream was having her first try at a mile and three furlongs, so I had to conserve energy where I could. I just didn’t quite get the split in time, and we were quickening off a slow pace. She was unlucky, but she gave her all and showed what a good filly she is.”
