Devonshire ran the race of her career so far to finish third in the Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas over a mile at the Curragh, Ireland, on Sunday, May 24.

The three-year-old filly, trained by Willie McCreery in Ireland and partnered by James Doyle, broke well from the stalls in the Group One race.

She was prominent towards the far rail, being settled in sixth of the 18 runners before moving up to fifth three furlongs out.

The daughter of Fast Company was asked to come and challenge within another furlong and took fourth at the distance.

Devonshire ran on to be third without getting to the first and second, Pleascach and Found, and held on to her place by a nose from Jack Naylor at the line.

She was beaten in total two lengths by the winner, whose time on ground officially described as good to yielding was 1m 39.17s.

Willie McCreery said: "Devonshire is very honest and tried her heart out.

"She loved the better ground today and was able to stride out with purpose.

"She has run a blinder and it is great for her to be Classic-placed.

"The performance has justified supplementing her and now we need to find a race to win which could possibly be at Royal Ascot. There are a number of options which we will discuss.

"I am delighted to be training for Sheikh Mohammed and Godolphin."
