Close Autumn Second For Minnesinger

Minnesinger was beaten narrowly in the Group Two Race-Tech Australia Caulfield Autumn Classic over nine furlongs at Caulfield, Australia, on Saturday, February 28.

The three-year-old Lonhro colt, ridden by Dwayne Dunn and trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman, was slightly slow into stride and held up in fourth last of the 13 runners.

He kept to the inside turning in and was sixth straightening up.

A good run took Minnesinger to the lead in the closing stages only for him to be headed on the line by Alpine Eagle.

Minnesinger went down by a short-half-head, with the winner's time 1m 48.44s on good going.

Anthony Freedman commented: "As he was boxed in, Minnesinger had to stick to the fence on the corner but got a gap around 200-metre mark.

"He charged through, took the lead but was nabbed right on the line. It was a very good effort."
