Igraine ran well in third in the Group Three Widden Stakes over an extended five furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia on Saturday, January 31.

The two-year-old Denman filly, having her second start, was well away and raced second and then third on the inside.

Trained by John O'Shea and partnered by James McDonald, she came through to press the leader in the straight and took a narrow lead at the distance before being swallowed up in the closing stages.

Igraine went down by a long-head and a neck to the winner Fireworks, whose time was 1m 5.49s on soft turf, and the second Lake Geneva in the nine-strong field.

John O'Shea commented: "This was a really good effort from Igraine who chased the speed from her soft draw (two) and got to the front.

"Her condition just gave out with 100 metres to go, but it was a great return to racing and she is headed in the direction."
