Complacent and Hauraki return to Royal Randwick, Australia, for the Group Three APN Outdoor Craven Plate over a mile and a quarter on Saturday, October 3.
The John O'Shea-trained pair have raced exclusively at the Sydney course so far this season, with five-year-old Complacent (James McDonald) finishing an excellent third in the 10-furlong Group Two Ascend Sales Hill Stakes on September 19.
The Authorized horse made all for a comfortable victory in the Group Two Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes over a mile on September 5, and was almost carried off the course when 12th in the seven-furlong Group Two Pro Ride Warwick Stakes on his first appearance for almost two years on August 22.
Complacent was among Australia's leading three-year-olds in the 2012/2013 season, winning three times including taking the Group One Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs at Royal Randwick.
Hauraki (Joao Moreira) came home seventh in the mile Group One Colgate Optic White Stakes (registered as the George Main Stakes) on September 19 and was 10th over a furlong shorter in the Group Tattersalls Club Tramway Stakes on September 5.
The four-year-old son of Reset ran a better race at Royal Randwick in April, when a fine second in the 12-furlong Group One BMW Australian Derby, and gained an impressive win in the Group Two Tulloch Stakes over a mile and a quarter at Rosehill Gardens in March.
John O'Shea reported: "Complacent has trained on beautifully since his unlucky third in the Hill Stakes two weeks ago.
"James will have the option to box-seat him from gate four as his fitness levels are great.
"Complacent is in a wonderful frame of mind and at this stage he will be a dominant favourite and deservedly so.
"Hauraki is the big improver in the race and has been waiting for a dry track which he gets here. His work has been first class and we have added the winkers to sharpen him up.
"From gate three, he should get a beautiful run two or three pairs back and I think he is going to mark himself as a genuine Caulfield Cup chance after this race. Every time we have had him fit and well, he has raced well and presents similarly here."
Complacent and Hauraki line up against eight others including French Group One victor Gallante and Australian Group One winner Moriarty.
