Coruscate has struck an early blow for his family ahead of Saturday’s $15 million Everest with a dominant win in the Listed Village Stakes at Caulfield on Wednesday, 14 October.
The gelding is a brother to the star Godolphin four-year-old Bivouac who, along with his stablemate Trekking, runs in The Everest, Australia’s richest race.
The win was Coruscate’s second on end and second at Stakes level following his success in the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes over the Caulfield 1,200m on Saturday, 26 September. He has also been placed twice in Group races.
Also on Wednesday’s Caulfield card, Hanseatic finished second of three runners behind Ranting in the G3 Blue Sapphire Stakes only to suffer a bleeding attack which under Australian rules draws an automatic three-month suspension from racing.
