Cruzeiro do Sul attempts to follow up an impressive Stakes win on his return to Graded company in the G2 Fuji Stakes at Tokyo, Japan, on Saturday, 19 October.

The Fine Needle colt drops back to a mile having lowered Niigata’s course record for nine furlongs when quickening strongly to take the Kanetsu Stakes in late July.

Trained by Yoshitada Takahashi, Cruzeiro do Sul finished down the field in March’s G3 Lord Derby Challenge Trophy, having started the year with a Stakes win over the Fuji Stakes course and trip.

He enjoyed a fruitful two-year-old campaign in 2022, scoring in a Tokyo maiden and taking fifth in the G2 Daily Hai Nisai Stakes at Hanshin, before winning the Listed Junior Cup at Nakayama by four lengths at the start of his three-year-old season.
