Devonshire stayed on strongly to be runner-up in the mile Group Three Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown, Ireland, on Sunday, May 10.
The three-year-old Fast Company filly, trained by Willie McCreery and ridden by James Doyle, was held up in second last of the nine runners on the heavy ground.
She started to make some progress turning into the straight and soon moved up to fifth and then ran on to take third with well over a furlong to race.
Devonshire kept going forward and gained second inside the final furlong, chasing home Kissed By Angels, who won by three and a half lengths in 1m 50.73s.
There were another two and a quarter lengths back to the third Stormfly.
Willie McCreery commented: "She ran a blinder and probably came up against a very good filly.
"Devonshire ran well on ground that probably wasn't the best for her. She has beaten the filly (Stormfly) who was in front of her last time and seems to have come on by three lengths or so.
"I think there is more in her and I would like to get her on better ground to see how she is suited by it - I hope there would be more of a turn of foot.
"A strongly-run seven furlongs or a mile seems to suit her and we will discuss the options for the next race which include the German and Irish 1,000 Guineas."
Devonshire finished second on her seasonal debut in the seven-furlong Irish 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on April 12.
