Devonshire steps up to Group Three level on her first start of the year in the seven-furlong Leopardstown Irish 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown, Ireland, on Sunday, April 12.
The three-year-old filly, representing Willie McCreery, stayed on well to score by half a length in a 23-runner fillies' maiden over the same distance at the Curragh on October 12. She was headed in the final furlong to come home second in a Roscommon fillies' maiden, also over seven furlongs, on September 29 and started off with three starts over six furlongs including when runner-up in a Naas maiden in June.
Willie McCreery said: "Devonshire has wintered well. She has grown a little bit and looks fit, healthy and ready to go.
"She enjoyed coming from the middle of the pack when she won her maiden at the Curragh and we will let everything happen in front of her again this time as there's going to be plenty of pace.
"She's not in the Irish 1,000 Guineas but this looks a nice chance to try and get some black type as it's the first chance of the season for three-year-old fillies to race against each other."
Devonshire, with James Doyle in the saddle for the first time, faces nine others including Group Three winner Qualify, Group Two Debutante Stakes third Toogoodtobetrue and Listed scorer Calypso Beat.
