Direct Message makes his Pattern debut in the G3 Lexington Stakes over an extended mile on dirt at Keeneland, USA, on Saturday, April 16.
The Tom Albertrani-trained colt has done well in two appearances in nine-furlong dirt maidens at Gulfstream Park so far this year, comfortably winning on March 19 and coming home second on January 9. He finished fourth in both his starts as a two-year-old last year.
Luis Saez takes the ride for the third consecutive time on the son of Bernardini, who breaks from stall two and tackles nine other three-year-olds including three-time G1 runner-up Swipe and G3 Sham Stakes winner Collected.
Tom Albertrani reported: "Direct Message was very impressive when winning his maiden last time out and has been training well.
"He has had two races this year going two turns and we feel very optimistic that he can make the step up to this level."
