The daughter of Exceed And Excel gained a comfortable success in the Group Three Thoroughbred Club Stakes over six furlongs at Caulfield on October 11 and started the season with a pair of third places in Group Two races at Royal Randwick.

John O'Shea reported: "Earthquake has had two lovely barrier trials and I thought she presented beautifully into this race with no weight.
"There is an abundance of speed in the field and she has drawn out wide in 11 but it should allow her to present late into the finish.
"Hopefully, her class and record at Caulfield will stand her in good stead for this event."
Earthquake, who races off joint-lowest weight of 50.5kg in this Group One handicap, meets 16 others including Flemington Group Three scorer Vain Queen plus Atmospherical, who was third in the Group Two Rubiton Stakes.
