Elite Army (Saeed bin Suroor/William Buick) scored on his first start for almost a year with a head victory in the Listed Carey Group Buckhounds Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, May 7.
Despite racing keenly for much of the 12-furlong contest, the five-year-old quickened between runners to take the lead over a furlong from home and bravely repelled the late challenge of Scotland.
William Buick commented: "This is a great training performance by Saeed bin Suroor and the team at home. It has not been easy but they have got him here and it is a wonderful start for him again.
"He was a bit fresh in the race but has shown his quality - he is a good horse. The good to firm going was safe enough for him today but he would appreciate a bit of give in the ground."
