Farolitos got within a head of the winner in the Group Three Daily Telegraph Carbine Club Stakes over a mile at Royal Randwick, Australia on Monday, April 6.

The three-year-old Exceed And Excel colt, trained by John O'Shea, broke smartly from the outside stall under James McDonald and raced a close second to Hi World.

He was ridden a furlong and a half out as Hi World went for home and rallied well in the closing stages behind the winner, whose time came in at 1m 38.01s on heavy turf. Farolitos finished two and a half lengths head of the third home Inauguration.

John O'Shea said: "Farolitos began well from the widest gate and rolled forward to get outside the lead which was a nice spot for him.

"He just failed to run down the leader. At this stage of the day, it was a very leaderish track so I feel he did a really good job."
