Federal aims to continue his rich vein of form on his first appearance at Group Three level in the seven-furlong Blacktown Workers Hawkesbury Guineas at Hawkesbury, Australia, on Saturday, May 2.

The John O'Shea-trained three-year-old has been successful on two of his three starts during this campaign and quickened clear for an easy victory on heavy ground in the Listed McGrath Estate Agents South Pacific Classic Handicap over the same distance at Royal Randwick on April 11.

He stayed on well to take second in the six-furlong Listed Pluim Gosford Guineas at Gosford on April 2 and was the comfortable winner of a Royal Randwick handicap over the same distance on March 11. James McDonald, who partnered Federal to both recent victories, again rides the son of Medaglia d'Oro.

John O'Shea reported: "Federal has continued to train on since his last start and is in exceptionally good form - he is also a winner at 1,400 metres on a heavy track.

"This is the right scenario for him and, if this race meeting proceeds, he will have no problem in the very wet ground."

Federal takes on up to 10 others headed by Group Two Arrowfield 3YO Sprint third Rekindled Power, Warwick Farm handicap winner Najoom and Pluim Gosford Guineas victor Ygritte.
