Federal makes a first appearance at Group Three level in the re-scheduled Blacktown Workers Hawkesbury Guineas over seven furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, May 9.

The John O'Shea-trained three-year-old has been successful on two of his three starts during this campaign.

The son of Medaglia d'Oro quickened clear for an easy victory in the Listed McGrath Estate Agents South Pacific Classic Handicap over the same distance at Royal Randwick on April 11.

Federal stayed on well to take second in the six-furlong Listed Pluim Gosford Guineas at Gosford on April 2 and was the comfortable winner of a Royal Randwick handicap over the same distance on March 11.

Sam Clipperton, who rode Federal in the Pluim Gosford Guineas, partners him again.

John O'Shea commented: "This looks a beautiful race for Federal. There are very few chances in the field and he is one of those deservedly so.

"He has trained on beautifully since his last win and I expect him to be very hard to beat."

Federal, drawn seven, races against eight rivals including the progressive pair of Najoom and Eisenhower plus Group Three runner-up Anyaas.
