Beautiful Romance produced a career-best performance with a brave third in the G1 QIPCO British Champions Fillies & Mares' Stakes over a mile and a half at Ascot, UK, on Saturday, October 17.

The three-year-old daughter of New Approach, representing Saeed bin Suroor, broke well and soon disputed seventh of the 12 runners on the inside under James Doyle.

She moved up to sixth with three quarters of a mile to race and stayed on strongly after being asked for her effort entering the straight to take third just inside the final furlong.

Beautiful Romance gamely repelled the late challenges of Covert Love and Bocca Baciata for third, finishing two and three quarter lengths behind Simple Verse, who won in 2m 32.01s on ground described as good to soft, soft in places.

Saeed bin Suroor said: "I am very happy with how Beautiful Romance performed and in particular how she finished the race.

"A mile and a half is the best trip for her but the key with her is the ground; she needs soft ground.

"We will keep her in training next year and we have no plans for her. We will probably keep her away from ground which is not soft enough, but we can bring her back next year and hope for a good season."
