Java continued his progress when winning the Group Three Thomas North Manfred Stakes in good style over six and a half furlongs at Sandown Hill, Australia on Monday, January 26.

This was a fourth consecutive success for the three-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro who is trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman.

He broke in mid-division of the 12-strong field before soon making progress to go a close second on the outside under Damien Oliver.

Java maintained his position before being asked to challenge the leader with a furlong and a half to race.

He came through to lead with over a half-furlong remaining and went away to triumph by a length and quarter from Petrology in 1m 18.28s.

Lee Freedman commented: "Java gave a good kick from the 200-metre mark to run down the leader. It was a very good effort again. He is tough and professional."
