Adam Kirby partnered the four-year-old to victory in the 10-furlong contest and was also on board Pretend, who readily captured the five-furlong Listed Unibet Hever Sprint Stakes.

Newmarch, with Shane Gray in the saddle, made a winning debut in a mile maiden, while Kevin Stott rode New Year's Night to victory in a handicap over a mile and a half.

Charlie Appleby commented: "We were confident that the horses were in excellent health coming into this afternoon.

"When you have that, you just need a bit of luck. They have all been well-ridden today and well done to the team at home, who have done a fantastic job. It's a huge team effort.

"Tryster was very impressive and a couple of doors have opened up for him now after his win in the Winter Derby. There's plenty of stamina on the dam's side and I feel that a step up in trip will probably suit him.

"Pretend has physically and mentally done well over the winter and I give a lot of credit to the team at home, who have done a great job.

"Adam Kirby had a lot of belief in the horse when he first rode him and it was his idea to take the hood off as well after defeat at Chelmsford City. He is a great asset to have at home along with William Buick and James Doyle.

"It has been a great winter for Godolphin. We are a huge team and we are playing as a team. Saeed bin Suroor has a great team in Dubai and he will be crowned champion trainer over there again at the Dubai World Cup Carnival.

"With a bit of luck, I can stay in front in the All-Weather Championships here and, from a team point of view, you couldn't have asked for a more productive winter.

"We have got a nice bunch of horses to hit the spring with and some of them might be quite a bit more forward because these horses are bringing the rest of the horses along."
