Furnaces returns in the five-furlong Group Two Mitty's McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley, Australia, on Saturday, September 5.
The three-year-old colt was last seen out when successful in the Group Three Widden Kindergarten Stakes over an extended five furlongs on heavy going at Royal Randwick on April 6.
The son of Exceed And Excel performed great credit when a close sixth in Australia's top two-year-old race, the Group One Tooheys New Golden Slipper, over six furlongs at Rosehill Gardens on March 21 and when runner-up in the Group Two UNSW Todman Stakes at Randwick on March 7.
John O'Shea said: "From gate three, I think Furnaces has the right credentials to be very competitive here.
"He transferred to Melbourne last week and has settled in very well. He has had a slight issue with a bit of a throat infection but that seems to have resolved itself and so long as he doesn't have any ill effects from it, I think he will run very well.
"He is fit and well and handled a gallop at the Valley on Tuesday morning and his ability should stand him in good stead for a race of this nature."
Patrick Moloney takes the ride for the first time on Furnaces, who is set to face 12 rivals including Group One Darley T J Smith Stakes victor Chautauqua and Group One Darley Goodwood Stakes winner Flamberge.
