G2 third for Mary Tudor

Mary Tudor ran well to finish third in the G2 Debutante Stakes over seven furlongs on soft going at the Curragh, Ireland, on Sunday, August 20.
The two-year-old Dawn Approach filly, trained by Willie McCreery and partnered by Billy Lee, was held up in second last of the field of eight on the inner as Magical made the running with Happily racing in second.
She started to progress with two furlongs remaining and ran on to take third inside the final furlong. Magical made all in 1m 29.64s, with Happily the length and a quarter runner-up and Mary Tudor the same distance again back in third.
This was Mary Tudor’s second start after being beaten a head by Magical in a Cork maiden over a mile on August 8.
Willie McCreery commented: “Mary Tudor is a smashing filly – one with a future.
“The first two home got the run of the race, but Mary Tudor quickened up well.
“I might run her once more this year – probably in a maiden – and then we can dream over the winter.”
