G3 third for Twilight Payment at the Curragh

Twilight Payment produced another good performance to come home third in the G3 Irish St Leger Trial over a mile and three-quarters at the Curragh, Ireland, on Saturday, August 19.
Runner-up in the same race 12 months ago, the Jim Bolger-trained colt raced in a close second early on before being sent into a clear lead by Kevin Manning with a mile and a quarter left to race.
He was reeled in by Order Of St George passing the two-furlong marker and kept on after being passed by Rekindling approaching the final furlong to go down by just over seven lengths in total.
Order Of St George galloped out strongly to gain a third consecutive victory in the race, winning in 3m 5.44s on yielding to soft ground.
Jimmy Hyland of Godolphin said: “We were very happy with Twilight Payment and it was a step forward from his previous run at Down Royal.
“We will see how he comes out of this run before making a decision about whether to aim him at the Irish St Leger (G1, 1m 6f, the Curragh, September 10).”
