Global Weekly Review: Unforgettable launch of a busy week

For Godolphin jockey James Doyle, it was the perfect start to the most important week of the European racing season.
Unforgetable Filly, owned by Dr Ali Ridha of Dubai, came with a long searching run from the middle of the field to land Sunday's G2 German 1,000 Guineas at Dusseldorf, with Doyle keeping a little in reserve as they hit the line.
It was a further German Classic success for trainer Hugo Palmer, and a notable first Classic winner for Darley stallion Sepoy.
Unforgetable Filly had run well when a creditable 6th to Winter in the G1 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket. She then won a Listed contest at Musselburgh en route to Germany.
Her immediate aim is the G1 Falmouth Stakes on Newmarket's July Course. A remarkably consistent filly, she has won three races and been placed four times from eight starts.
In France, the well-regarded but slightly disappointing Senga came with a powerful finish to win the G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly, a Classic spoiled by the fall of Onthemoonagain in the home straight and Rhododendron bleeding and subsequently being pulled up.
Senga, by American sire Blame, had been well beaten in the French 1,000 Guineas but evidently she had been looking for a trip longer than one mile.
She is owned by the Niarchos Family through their Flaxman Holdings Limited and is from a family developed over five generations by the owners. The family-sponsored Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville in August is the likely next target for Senga.
Sistercharlie, who did not get a good run, took second, ahead of Terrakova and Shutter Speed. Kitesurf was 10th of 14 finishers.
