Godolphin support charity polo match in aid of Injured Jockeys Fund

For the second year running, Godolphin proudly supported the International Ladies Polo Tournament 2018 charity match on Saturday, 18 August, in the grounds of the All Ireland Polo Club, Phoenix Park.

Two international matches headlined the event, while the undercard played host to a thrilling Godolphin celebrity match featuring renowned jockeys, trainers & retrained racehorses. All proceed from the event went to the Irish Injured Jockey Fund.

The celebrity match featured teams of two polo players alongside two jockeys or trainers mounted on retrained racehorses.

Event organiser Siobhan Herbst said, “The celebrity match adds a real fun element to the day and the racing industry really get involved.

"It’s also a great opportunity to highlight the versatility of ex-racehorses as polo ponies.

We are adding more and more ex-racehorses to our polo string and it is a second career they really excel at.”

Godolphin is commited to the lifetime care of our horses. The Godolphin rehoming and retraining programme finds ex racehorses new homes and new careers - with a little retraining, a thoroughbred can make a perfect mount for many different equine disciplines including eventing, dressage, polo or hunting.
