Goodwood perfect to bring out the best in Lennox duo

The idiosyncrasies of Goodwood appeal to certain horses, while others find its sharp twists and turns too demanding.
D’Bai and Dutch Connection, the Godolphin duo, who tackle Tuesday’s seven-furlong G2 Lennox Stakes are both considered perfect for the job.
Trainer Charlie Appleby believes that D’Bai, from gate six, will love being in a crowded field galloping toward the sharp right-hand bend that takes them into the home straight.
“Goodwood often suits a horse who can squeeze through and be produced late right on the line,” Appleby said.
“We know D’Bai loves being in behind horses and I think Goodwood suits his style of running,” he added.
Charlie Hills saddles Dutch Connection, who won the Lennox in 2016 and is regarded as a track specialist. A return to the Sussex Downs may spark a form revival from the six-year-old.
Hills said: “Goodwood brings the best out of him. His course and distance form reads 1211 — and he will love the ground if it stays fast.”
The three-year-old Tip Two Win, sent out by Roger Teal, sets the standard in this high class contest.
