Hauraki finished runner-up in the Group Two Cellarbrations Phar Lap Stakes over an extended seven furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, March 14.

The three-year-old Reset colt, trained by John O'Shea with James McDonald in the saddle, was held up last of the eight runners towards the inner initially.

He gradually came forward to be fifth three furlongs out and was switched to the inside rail in the straight.

Hauraki ran on strongly to take second, a length and three quarters behind Winx whose time was 1m 30.26s on soft going.

John O'Shea reported: "Turning into the straight, the split never came so Hauraki stayed on the inside rail and charged through to close on the leaders quickly.

"It was a great performance and showed how he much prefers the right-handed way of racing.

"He had a good blow after the race but it was a good positive day and he got himself back into the game.

"He heads to the Tulloch Stakes (Group Two, 10 furlongs, Rosehill Gardens, March 28) in two weeks. I think he will be very hard to beat."
