Highland Avenue placed in the G3 Diomed Stakes for a second year as he finished third in the Epsom Downs contest on Saturday, 1 June.
Runner-up 12 months earlier, the Charlie Appleby-trained son of Dubawi was rousted by William Buick leaving the stalls to grab third behind Royal Scotsman and Silver Sword.
Highland Avenue went second with a little under three furlongs to race and kept on without being able to challenge Royal Scotsman, who made all to score by just over two lengths.
Royal Dubai collared Highland Avenue for the runner-up spot inside the final half-furlong, with the Godolphin six-year-old going down by three and a quarter lengths in total.
