Home Of The Brave takes Everest slot, Tommy Berry to ride

Godolphin’s international sprinter Home Of The Brave will be a runner in the A$13 million The Everest at Randwick on Saturday, 13 October.
The acceptance of one of the final slots in the 12-horse race comes after negotiations with the Australian Turf Club and the Godolphin team.
Trainer James Cummings welcomed the opportunity for Home Of The Brave to run as both recognition of the horses quality and an opportunity to take racing to a bigger audience.
“We are excited to get Home Of The Brave into the Everest,” Cummings said.
“The great thing about a race like the Everest is that it captures a wider audience other than just racing enthusiasts.”
Home Of The Brave, who has raced three times in Australia, is the winner of the G2 Theo Marks Stakes over 1300m at Rosehill two starts back and has since finished fourth behind another Godolphin runner, Jungle Cat, in the G1 Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield last month.
“We took him to Melbourne in search of a G1 at 1,400m and now we have a new opportunity in this race."
“There is also the threat of some rain, so along with coming back to 1,200m with some cut in the ground he would have conditions to suit.
“It would be a feather in the cap of the stable for a horse like him to perform well in a race like this.”
Home Of The Brave will be ridden by leading Australian jockey Tommy Berry.
