It's Somewhat steps back up to Group One company in the George Ryder Stakes over an extended seven furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, March 21.

The four-year-old, representing trainer John O'Shea, made a winning start to his season with a convincing length and a quarter victory over a furlong shorter in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup at Warwick Farm on February 28.

He raced over significantly further in the UK last year, including when coming home 10th in the Group One Ladbrokes St Leger over an extended 14 furlongs at Doncaster on September 15.

It's Somewhat stayed on to take a close fifth over a furlong shorter in the Group Three Betfred TV Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury in August and went down by a head and a neck in the 12-furlong Group Three Neptune Investment Management Gordon Stakes at Goodwood in July.

The son of Dynaformer, who was named Somewhat prior to this year, was third behind Mukhadram and Trading Leather in the Group One Coral-Eclipse over a mile and a quarter at Sandown Park at the start of July.

John O'Shea said: "It's Somewhat is going up significantly in grade off a really good win first-up in Group Three company.

"He is stepping to weight-for-age here, where he has been more than effective in Europe, and also out to a more suitable distance.

"From gate eight, he should roll forward to get within the first four in running which should present him with a good scenario.

"We are just trying to get a guide as to where he fits in and after this run I am sure we will have a good idea. I expect him to give a good account of himself and, if he can finish within a couple of lengths of the winner, that will lay a really good foundation."

It's Somewhat, with William Buick up for the first time, takes on 13 rivals including dual Group One winner Cosmic Endeavour, Caulfield Guineas victor Shooting To Win and Australian Guineas fourth Kermadec plus Japanese challengers World Ace and Real Impact.
