Java seeks a fifth consecutive victory as he makes his Group One debut in the Sportingbet Powered By William Hill C F Orr Stakes over seven furlongs at Caulfield, Australia, on Saturday, February 14.

The three-year-old, trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman, posted a comfortable length and a quarter success in the Group Three Thomas North Manfred Stakes over six and a half furlongs at Sandown Hill on January 26.

He gained a pair of handicap victories, scoring over seven furlongs at Sandown Hill on January 7 and in a six-furlong contest at Mornington on December 17, and easily took a five- and-a-half-furlong Kilmore maiden on December 2.

Chad Schofield rides the son of Medaglia d'Oro for the first time.

Anthony Freedman commented: "Java remains highly progressive. He has clearly improved with each start and he will need to do that again to think he is a genuine each-way chance in a Group One.

"This Orr looks to rate below average but unfortunately we have drawn a bit awkwardly (13) and he is an on-speed runner, so he will need to gain a few favours in running.

"Hopefully, there is not a great deal of speed in the race with several stayers resuming and he certainly has an edge in terms of race fitness.

"I am looking forward to giving him his opportunity in a Group One."

Java takes on 14 others including three-time Group One scorer Dissident and Thomas North Manfred Stakes runner-up Petrology, plus Group Three winners Entirely Platinum and Spillway.
