Java bids for a fourth straight win as he steps up in class for the Group Three Thomas North Manfred Stakes over six and a half furlongs at Sandown Hill, Australia on Monday, January 26.
The three-year-old son of Medaglia d'Oro, trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman, quickened well for a decisive victory at the same course in a seven-furlong handicap on January 7.
He also gained a comfortable success in a Mornington handicap over six furlongs on December 17 and took a Kilmore maiden over half a furlong shorter on December 2.
Java, drawn seven with Damien Oliver in the saddle for the first time, tackles 11 rivals including Swan Hill maiden winner Fast Cash, Caulfield handicap scorer Affirmation and Moonee Valley handicap victor San Nicasio.
Lee Freedman commented: "I have been very pleased with how Java has gone since his last win at Sandown.
"I would expect that, if he runs up to his form, he will be very competitive even with the rise in class."
