Jungle Cat makes an appearance at Royal Ascot, UK, for the second consecutive year, going for the inaugural Commonwealth Cup, a Group One contest for three-year-olds over six furlongs, on Friday, June 19.

The Iffraaj colt, representing Charlie Appleby, was third over the same course and distance in the Group Two Coventry Stakes in 2014.

Jungle Cat went on to run well in three more juvenile Group Two contests over six furlongs last season, including when going down by a nose to Muhaarar in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes at York.

He has made two appearances so far this term, coming home last in the seven-furlong Listed CPS European Free Handicap at Newmarket on April 15 and then taking second behind Adaay in the Listed Toronado Carnarvon Stakes over six furlongs at Newbury on May 16.

Charlie Appleby commented: "We were delighted with Jungle Cat's run at Newbury and six furlongs on quick ground will suit him well.

"He didn't stay seven furlongs in the European Free Handicap and many of my horses have needed the run to get going.

"He was third in the Coventry Stakes last year and danced every dance in some of the top juvenile Group races, so he is used to the big stage."

William Buick partners Jungle Cat for the third time and the Godolphin runner, drawn 13, takes on 17 rivals including Adaay and Limato, who were first and second in the Group Two Sandy Lane Stakes, Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootenanny, last year's champion juvenile filly Tiggy Wiggy, the 2014 Queen Mary Stakes heroine Anthem Alexander and Muhaarar.
