Knoydart and Generalife bid for a first Group One victory in the James Boag's Premium Doomben 10,000 at Doomben, Australia, on Saturday, May 23.

John O'Shea is responsible for both five-year-olds with Knoydart making a second appearance in the prestigious sprint, which is run over just shy of seven furlongs, after coming home fifth last year.

The son of More Than Ready has been in excellent form this season, finishing fourth in two Group Two races and quickening well to take second on his latest start in the Group One Ubet BTC Cup over six furlongs at Doomben on May 9.

Generalife has also produced a string of fine efforts and ran on strongly to finish a close fifth, beaten just over a length, on his Group One debut in the seven-furlong Schweppes All Aged Stakes at Royal Randwick on April 18.

He gained a nose success in the Group Three Irresistible Star Kingdom Stakes over six furlongs at Rosehill Gardens on March 28, his first appearance for four months, and was placed in a trio of Group Three races at around seven furlongs in October and November.

James McDonald partners Knoydart, with Hugh Bowman in the saddle for the first time on Generalife.

John O'Shea said: "I couldn't be happier with Knoydart going into this Group One but unfortunately he has to overcome gate 15, which will be a significant impediment for him.

"If he does get any luck in running, there is no reason why he won't fight out the finish.

"Generalife has had a fantastic preparation so far and rounded it off with a good barrier trial at Randwick two weeks ago.

"He arrived safely in Brisbane and settled in well. So long as he jumps well from gate six and maintains his position, I think he will fight out the finish."

Knoydart and Generalife take on 14 rivals including Group Two SMEG Victory Stakes scorer Srikandi, plus Our Boy Malachi and Bring Me The Maid, who were third and fourth in the Ubet BTC Cup.
