Log Out Island returned to form with a close third in the Group Two Fly Aer Lingus From Doncaster Sheffield Flying Childers Stakes over five furlongs at Doncaster, UK, on Friday, September 11.

The Richard Hannon-trained two-year-old showed good early speed under James Doyle and led the nine runners.

He was joined at the head of the field by Shadow Hunter beyond the halfway stage but rallied well to regain a narrow advantage over a furlong from home.

Log Out Island stayed on strongly but was soon headed and despite keeping on was edged out in the closing stages by Gutaifan and Ornate to go down by a head and a neck, with a length and a quarter back to Bear Cheek in fourth.

Gutaifan won in a new juvenile course record of 58.04s on ground described as good, good to firm in places.

Richar Hannon said: "Log Out Island has run a nice race. He was the first off the bridle which worried me a bit but he stuck his neck out and I don't think you can now question his enthusiasm, which we have done in the past.

"I think he liked the fast ground and it was a really good run. He's been on the go a long time."

James Doyle added: "Log Out Island has run an absolute cracker as officially he is a stone behind the winner."
