Master Of The Seas collected a second G2 prize this year with an authoritative victory in the Summer Mile at Ascot, UK, on Saturday, 15 July.

This season’s G2 Zabeel Mile winner, who also captured the G2 Superlative Stakes as a juvenile in 2020, was held up in last by James Doyle as Classic Causeway and New Kingdom opened up a significant advantage over their six rivals.

Master Of The Seas started to make good headway around runners as the front two came back to the field turning in and was delivered widest of all in the straight.

The Dubawi five-year-old quickened powerfully to take up the running over a furlong out before readily going clear of Aldaary and Jimi Hendrix, crossing the line four lengths in front.

His trainer Charlie Appleby said: “It was pleasing to see Master Of The Seas secure a well-deserved victory. He is entered in the Sussex Stakes and we will keep an eye on that, although we also have him pencilled in for the Fourstardave Handicap at Saratoga.”

James Doyle added: “It was a slightly messy race. I jumped pretty well but could see that Classic Causeway and New Kingdom were flying along. Master Of The Seas is quite a sensitive horse and you need to let him find his own rhythm. I was quite far back but in my comfort zone.”
