Matilija acquitted herself well on her Pattern debut with a never-nearer third in the Group Three Simpson Construction Typhoon Tracy Stakes over six furlongs at Moonee Valley, Australia, on Friday, February 27.

The three-year-old filly, trained by Lee & Anthony Freedman and ridden by Ben Melham, raced in seventh of the nine runners early on and started to take closer order around the field turning for home.

She ran on strongly inside the final furlong to take third in the dying strides, a length and three-quarters behind Written Dash, who scored in 1m 10.64s on good ground.
